On April 11, 2024, the acting Vice Chancellor of Kaimosi Friends University, Prof. Peter Mwita, along with his deputies, Prof. Julius Kipkemboi and Prof. Maurice Amadalo, convened a crucial meeting with the leadership of Hamisi Subcounty. Led by Deputy Speaker Hon. Eric Odei, the Vihiga County Assembly Members—Hon. Richard Muhiga, Hon. Lusava Mwashi, and Hon. Boniface Shanga—gathered for a productive discussion aimed at fostering stronger ties between the university and the local political sphere.

Central to the discourse was the assembly's pledge to support KAFU, particularly in matters concerning infrastructure enhancement and security within the Kaimosi complex area. Recognizing the pivotal role of the university in the community, the assembly affirmed its commitment to collaborate closely with KAFU to ensure its continued growth and development.

In return, KAFU reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the local populace through extension services and employment opportunities. The university also expressed its willingness to cooperate with the county government in addressing pressing community needs, such as the establishment of a much-needed hospital in the area.

A significant aspect of the meeting revolved around efforts to boost student enrollment at Kaimosi Friends University. Members of the Vihiga County Assembly (MCAs) pledged to actively promote the university during their engagements, underscoring the importance of higher education in driving societal progress. Additionally, discussions centered on the need for capacity building on matters pertaining to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and Higher Education Funding (HEF), with the university committing to facilitate information dissemination for prospective students.

The consensus reached underscored the profound impact of KAFU on the local community, highlighting the imperative for sustained support and collaboration to propel the institution to even greater heights of excellence and influence. As both parties embrace a shared vision of growth and prosperity, the stage is set for a mutually beneficial partnership that promises to uplift both the university and the surrounding region.
