Kaimosi Friends University Signs 2025/2026 Performance Contract

In a milestone for institutional accountability, Kaimosi Friends University has signed its 2025/2026 Performance Contract with the Ministry of Education. The agreement reaffirms the University’s commitment to service delivery, transparency, and alignment with national priorities.

The signing ceremony took place at Avian Court Hotel in Naivasha, led by University Council Chairman Prof. Stanley Ominde Khainga and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita. The Ministry of Education team was headed by Dr. James Kiburi, Director of Higher Education, with Chief Economist Peter Chabari and senior planning officials Ms. Judith Moraa Moruri and Mr. Cosmas Njoroge in attendance.

Representing the university were senior management officials including Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat (DVC, Administration, Finance, Planning and Development), Prof. Fred Amimo (DVC, Academic, Student Affairs and Research), Dr. Wycliffe Amukowa (Senior Assistant Registrar, VC’s Office), and Dr. Metrine Sulungai (Director, Planning and Performance Contracting).

The contract, anchored in the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012, outlines the institution’s strategic goals for the year, among them strengthening teaching and research, promoting innovation, supporting marginalized groups, and enhancing community engagement.

The Vice-Chancellor said the agreement provides a clear blueprint for the university to uphold transparency, efficiency, and continuous improvement in service delivery, while strengthening the mandate of providing quality higher education with diligence and professionalism.

“It is our responsibility to provide leadership that delivers sustainable socio-economic development. The Performance Contract gives us a clear framework to measure our impact, enhance accountability, and strengthen service delivery. It is through such commitments that we align our academic, research, and innovation priorities with the broader national development agenda.

He added that the contract will guide the University’s efforts in the coming year as it works towards producing graduates who are globally competitive and locally relevant, while ensuring prudent use of resources and sustaining continuous institutional growth.

Prof. Khainga said that the Council’s focus on aligning the University’s strategy with national priorities, noting that the Performance Contract serves as a key instrument for measuring progress.

“We remain committed to accountability, innovation, and inclusivity as we pursue excellence in academics, research, and community service. By strengthening our governance structures, investing in research and innovation, and creating opportunities for students and staff, we are not only shaping the future of our graduates but also making Kaimosi Friends University a driver of sustainable development in the region and beyond.” He added.

The 2025/2026 Performance Contract is expected to enhance institutional performance and service delivery, further positioning Kaimosi Friends University as a growing centre of higher education and innovation.
