The Kaimosi Friends University delegation, led by the Dean of Students, Dr. Monanti Nyambane, who represented the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita, actively took part in planting hundreds of indigenous and fruit trees while engaging with local youth and learners on the importance of environmental protection. The activity underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, community empowerment, and climate action.

The event was graced by the Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, who applauded universities for integrating environmental stewardship into their academic and social development programs. She called on students and institutions to lead the way in driving Kenya’s green growth agenda through innovation, research, and practical environmental action.

“Environmental stewardship begins with education, our universities must continue nurturing environmentally conscious graduates who will pioneer sustainable solutions for our country. Every tree planted today is an investment in Kenya’s future.” said Dr. Inyangala.

In her remarks, she further noted that the Ministry of Education is keen on strengthening partnerships between higher learning institutions and local communities to accelerate Kenya’s National Greening Initiative, which aims to grow 15 billion trees by 2032 under the leadership of H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.
